Royal Society of Enchanters
Sorcery in Bone Harbour society is heavily regulated by the Realm, all local sorcerers must be members of the Royal Society of Enchanters in order to practice their craft inside the city. Members are limited to spells and sorcerous workings that doesn’t involve the summoning and command of demons, the undead, or are attack spells or any activity that is in conflict with the Realms interests. Violating these rules is grounds for expulsion from the royal Society of enchanters. Unsanctioned sorcerers are not tolerated in Bone Harbour and are denied entry, exiled or executed (if deemed a danger to the city).
The order maintains the sorcerous workings that are integral for the city’s survival, they also do commissioned work for private citizens who can pay (mostly the dynasty and the nobility).
The order practices a shaping ritual tradition they call; rune inscriber, but not all sorcerers in the Society practice it.
The Royal Society of Enchanters is organized in four tiers. Runemaster; these are experienced sorcerers who have advanced far in the mysteries of the terrestrial circle of sorcery. In the past one of the runemasters would be elected to be the leader of the Royal Society of Enchanters; the runelord, but for years now the runemasters answer to the Realms satraps arcane advisor.
Journeymen; these are the “common” members of the Royal Society of Enchanters, all are skilled sorcerers of the terrestrial circle. Sorcerers from outside of Bone Harbour who join the order start as journeymen.
Apprentice; worthy individuals who have a gift for the art, but they are yet to be fully initiated into terrestrial circle. They are apprenticed to a runemaster.
